A New Beginning
Exodus 12: 1-13
The children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt between B C 1500-1400, experiencing great difficulties under the hand of hard Taskmasters (Supervisors). Seeing none was able to deliver himself or his brother, they went to the right source, The Lord God of Heaven, they cried unto the Lord, and in response the Lord said: "I have seen the affliction of my people, I have heard their cry, I know their sorrows, and I am come down to deliver them, Exodus 3: 7-8". This led to a new beginning.
It presents to us a picture as to where we have found ourselves as a result of Adam's transgression, for sin enslaves, put into bondage. By one man sin entered in the world. Rom 5:12, all have sinned Rom 3:23, all in the bondage of sin, none is able to deliver himself or his brother, its universal.
God looked from heaven, He saw us, He devise means 2nd Samuel 14.14, He came down in the person of Christ, who died for our sins that we be delivered, but whether it is Israel or us, deliverance is by the principle of faith, they had to believe God, we are exhorted to "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved. Acts. 16:31. Now we see:
1- The Month to be Remembered. Exodus 12.1-2.
The beginning of months, The first month of the year, The month for deliverance, there would be no such month in the history of mankind.
When we think of the month December accepted by Christendom as the month when God came down in the person of Christ, we can say there has never been a time or shall be such a time as when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea. Mat. 2.1
2- The Message to all the People: Vs 3. Speak to all the people, none would be denied of the good news of deliverance, for each one was precious in God's sight. God by his grace is making the good news of salvation or deliverance from sin to all, none is exempt from the gospel, God's good news to a guilty world. We thank God that by way of technology we can share this good new to all around the world.
3- The Method to be Followed: Vs. 4-11. In the tenth day of the month they shall take every man a lamb. If the household be too small they shall share with the next door neighbor. ( a ) The whole lamb must be received, (b) Adjustment must be made by the people to the lamb, not the Lamb to the people (c) the lamb must be without blemish or spots. We must avail ourselves to God's plan of salvation, for no adjustment can be make to it, must be accepted as it, Christ died for our sin, was buried and rose again according to the scriptures. 1 Cor 15.1-3.
4- The Meaning of all Instructions. Vs. 11b. It is the Lord's Passover. For us it is Redemption by blood.
5- The Moment of Inspection: Vs. 12-13. God said " When I see the blood, I will pass over you. The judgment shall not be upon you when I smite the land of Egypt. He did not say when I see the bread, or when I see the bitter herbs, but when I see the blood. Their salvation was only by the application of the blood on the door post. The Apostle Paul writing to the saints at Rome said, " Being now justified by His (Christ) blood we shall be saved from wrath through Him, Romans 5: 9
We at Words of Assurance would like to encourage you to consider that month to be remembered, that message to all, including you, that method to be followed, that meaning of God's salvation, and that moment of inspection. Remember those who were inside the house with the application of the blood had nothing to be afraid of, they were safe by their obedience to God. Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 5: 1. When we put our trust in the precious blood of Christ shed for us on Calvary, we can say with the song writer, “ Saved by the blood of the crucified one.
If you put your trust in the Lord, and received Christ as your Savior do let us know so we can pray for you and yours.
May God's Blessing be with you. JJ.
