The Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ
John 19:1-37 & 20:1-31
1-The crucifixion of Christ: The chapter begins with the words: then :Pilate therefore took Jesus and scourged him, Vs.1 Pilate then said "Behold the man. Vs.5, but in verse 14 Pilate said "Behold your king. Could it be that Pilate then had a better understanding of Christ?, but even then he was rejected and the cry was Away with Him. Crucify Him. 1:1-15.
Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. Outside the city. Vs. 16-20. This being in fulfillment to the type of Him in Lev. 16: 27 according to Heb. 13: 11-12.
For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the Sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore, Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood suffered without the gate. Heb. 13:11-12. The song writer said:
"There is a green hill far away: Without a city wall,
Where the dear Lord was crucified: Who died to safe us all.
O dearly, dearly has He loved: And we must love Him too,
And trust in His redeeming love: And try his works to do."
Now we can hear the Seven Last Words on the Cross.

7- It is finish. John 19: 30. Christ has for sin Atonement made.
The end of chapter 19 presents the record of the death and burial of Christ. Now in chapter 20 we learn of the amazing discoveries on the resurrection of Christ.

There in righteousness transcendent:
Lo! He doth in heaven appear:
Shows the blood of His atonement;
As thy title to be there
