The Second Coming of Christ: For His Church, In His Revelation
Sermon by Joe Jeremiah 10/20/02
1- The Promise of the Church: Jesus said I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matt. 16: 18 . This church or called out assembly would be composed of each person who acknowledges himself or herself as a sinner, needing a Saviour, that Christ as Saviour came into the world to save sinners, and that each one of us personally accept Christ as Saviour, we then become members of His Universal Church. John 1: 12, Acts. 2.:41-47
2- The Presence of the Church: Since the Day of Pentecost, Acts. Chapter 2, the church has been a present organism functioning to glorifying God in matters of faith and practice. We who believe in Christ are members of this church, associated with various local bodies, each of which is a part of that one Universal Church.
3- The Program of the Church: The main program of the church consist of worship and witness for God's glory, while we seek by the grace of God to live a life of holiness that will have a positive impact among humanity in the world. Matt. 26.26, Matt. 28: 19-20, Rom 12.1-2.
4- The Prospect of the Church: According to the words of our Lord Jesus and the Apostle Paul, He will come for us or we will be raptured or caught away, some day, known only but to God. John. 14:1-3,Acts. 1:10-11,1stThess. 1:9-10, 1st. Thess. 4:13-16, 1st. Cor. 15: 51-57.
5- The Pleasure of the Church. While we do not have a chronological listing of events that will follow the Rapture, and while no time table is given for these events, there are some things that can be expected, and such things will affect all of us who are Christians, according to the way we lived our lives here on earth before the rapture, for according to the scripture there will be ---(1) The Judgment Seat of Christ- 2nd Cor 5;:10, (2) There will be the marriage supper of the Lamb. Rev. 19:7-9.
The second part of this study is the Revelation of Christ or His coming to the earth.
Christ coming in revelation means He will be coming to the earth as The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah. 9.7b. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end Isaiah 9.7a, Fulfilling the Davidic Covernant.2nd Samuel 7;8-17 and bringing an end to the four great Gentile World Empires, unto fulfillment of Times of the Gentiles Luke 21:24.
What will precede the Revelation of Christ?. What period of time will there be between the coming of Christ in the Air for the church and the coming of Christ on the earth to establish His earthly kingdom. According to the prophesy of Daniel 70th week or 490 years. Daniel 9:27 there will be 7 years between the coming of Christ for the church and the coming of Christ on the earth. What will happen in this 7 years.
A great Super Political Personality known as the Anti-Christ. Will arise, make a covenant with Israel for 7 years, but in the midst of the years (3- 1/2 years) will break that covenant, set up his image in Palestine and have the entire world dominated by his power, so that no one will be able to buy or sell. 2nd Thess. 2: 1-12, Rev. 13: 16-17. Men will suffer as never before. for time (1 year,) times (2 years) and dividing of a time (1/2 year) or 3 1/2 years. Israel will cry How long O Lord, it would be said until their fellow servants also and their brethren should be killed. Dan. 7:25, Rev. 6: 10-11.
How would the Revelation of Christ be. Immediately after the Tribulation of those days shall the Sun be darkened, the moon shall not give her light, the stars shall fall from heaven. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matt. 24: 29-30. Behold He cometh with clouds and every eye shall see Him. Rev. 1: 7. This is the Revelation of Christ.
